Berlin (dpa) - The federal and state governments want to lash down the further course in the fight against the corona pandemic by the end of the year.

According to the ideas of the federal states, Chancellor Angela Merkel (CDU) and the Prime Minister will decide at the video conference to extend the current partial lockdown until December 20.

However, it should then be relaxed over the holidays.

The prime ministers of the 16 countries have agreed to tighten the contact restrictions again from December 1st.

Private get-togethers with friends, relatives and acquaintances should then be limited to one's own household and one other household, a maximum of five people in total.

Children up to 14 years are excluded.

Over the holidays - from December 23rd to January 1st - meetings of a maximum of ten people in a household with non-household family members or persons should then be permitted. Here, too, children up to the age of 14 should not count. There are no plans to limit the number to a certain number of households. Berlin's Governing Mayor Michael Müller (SPD), currently chairman of the Prime Minister's Conference, considers a relaxation for private contacts over Christmas and New Year's Eve to be “appropriate” despite the risk of corona infection.
