In his address, Khamzaev noted that New Year's holidays often turn into a surge in alcohol poisoning and an increase in the number of calls to the ambulance.

At the same time, as the public figure recalled, regional health systems in 2020 are already experiencing an increased burden due to the spread of COVID-19.

"In order to prevent an increase in the load on ambulance services during the New Year holidays, I ask you to consider the possibility of introducing a ban on the sale of alcoholic beverages in the territory of the Russian Federation in the period 1-2 January - the days that account for the main increase in calls for emergency help," in the text of the appeal.

Earlier it became known that in Russia from January 1, 2021, the minimum retail prices (MRC) for strong alcohol will increase.
