Berlin / Wiesbaden (dpa / lhe) - In Hesse, a further 1,363 people have been proven to be infected with the corona virus.

The number of known infections in the country has risen to 79,260 since the beginning of the pandemic, as shown by figures from the Berlin Robert Koch Institute (RKI) on Wednesday (as of 00:00).

So far, 1,111 people have died from or with the virus, 40 more than the day before.

Values ​​reported by municipalities themselves may differ from the figures from the Robert Koch Institute, as they pass on the data with a time delay.

Figures given by the municipalities themselves are generally more up-to-date than those from the RKI or the Hessian Ministry of Social Affairs in Wiesbaden.

The so-called incidence - i.e. the number of new infections per 100,000 inhabitants in the past seven days - was 161.7 on Wednesday in Hesse and thus slightly lower than on Tuesday with a value of 171.3.
