After an attack on participants in the recent Leipzig demonstration against the corona restrictions, the Saxon State Criminal Police Office (LKA) is investigating unknown persons for attempted manslaughter and dangerous physical harm.

Since a politically motivated background cannot be ruled out due to the previous circumstances, the investigation is being carried out by the "Soko Linx" responsible for left-wing extremism, the LKA announced in Dresden on Tuesday.

According to this, a group of 15 to 20 people is said to have attacked another group on the edge of the confusing demonstration on Saturday.

A 25-year-old and a 30-year-old went to the ground and were beaten and kicked.

An attacker kicked one of the victims in the head several times with his foot.

When the police arrived, some of the attackers fled, others continued the attacks on the man, the LKA said.

He apparently found himself in a helpless position, which is why a police officer fired a warning shot.

The other attackers then also fled.

The two victims, who previously said they were at the meeting of the Corona critics, were taken to hospital and treated on an outpatient basis, according to the LKA.

A rally related to the “lateral thinking” movement had been canceled by the applicant shortly before the start.

Hundreds of participants, some of them right-wing extremists, then marched through the city in various groups, and there were also several left-wing counter-events.

The police recorded 18 crimes and two arrests.
