Erfurt (dpa / th) - With an acquittal and the suspension of the proceedings, the process of a right-wing attack on a left-wing youth center in Erfurt ended four years ago on Tuesday.

The district court saw no demonstrable involvement in the crime and therefore acquitted the 37-year-old defendant from charges of dangerous bodily harm in several cases and from trespassing.

The case against a 27-year-old was dropped.

The decision was preceded by a legal discussion between the parties involved.

The left youth center and its visitors were attacked on Ascension Day 2016.

Among other things, the guests are said to have been hit and kicked in and right-wing slogans were shouted.

The two defendants did not comment on the allegations at the beginning of the trial on November 10.

Martina Renner, a member of the Left Bundestag in Thuringia, criticized the outcome of the proceedings.

"A trial two and a half years after the indictment has been brought prevents the investigation, encourages the perpetrators and mocks the victims," explained Renner.

Such protracted proceedings and the impunity of neo-Nazis are complicit in the constant high number of right-wing acts of violence in Erfurt for years and the further consolidation of violent neo-Nazi structures.

In the statistics of the victim counseling ezra, Erfurt has been the region with the most right-wing and racist attacks nationwide for years.
