For the media, it is certain that the foreign affairs portfolio goes to Anthony Blinken, Joe Biden's diplomatic adviser.
According to the
New York Times
, he is a staunch supporter of international alliances, in short, of multilateralism.
A position that contrasts with Donald Trump's America first doctrine.
The goal of the new secretary of state, according to the
New York Times,
would be to rally allies around a broad coalition to counter China's influence on the international stage.
Joe Biden is also expected to name another close associate, Jake Sullivan, as his national security adviser.
And the prestigious post of Ambassador to the UN will go to Linda Thomas-Greenfield, former Assistant Secretary of State for Africa under President Barack Obama.
According to the news site
The Hill
, Joe Biden could also appoint a woman at the head of the CIA and the Ministry of Defense.
All these appointments must be confirmed by the Senate, the majority of which depends on the results of the second round for the two seats to be filled in Georgia, a poll scheduled for early January.
