"Arancha Gonzalez Laya spoke with her Russian counterpart Sergei Lavrov," the Spanish Foreign Ministry said on Twitter.
It added that the ministers "touched upon (issues) COVID-19, terrorism, the situation in Libya and Belarus and bilateral cooperation in the fields of trade, investment, security, tourism, science and education."
Earlier it was reported that the authorities of the Autonomous Community of Madrid decided to close the region for 10 days due to the situation with the coronavirus infection COVID-19.
