This Sunday took place by car demonstrations (to avoid the contamination of the Covid conducive to demonstrations on foot) in many Spanish cities to protest against the “Celaa law”, named after the Socialist Minister of Education Isabel Celaa.

Protests at the call of several organizations and especially the three major right-wing parties.

The Spanish right is angry over one of the subjects that worries them the most: education.

The reform being prepared by the left-wing government represents in the eyes of the right-wing opposition the worst of the worst.

The reproaches and criticisms are indeed numerous and the leader of the Popular Party, Pablo Casado, declared that he would do everything in his power to oppose "a despicable law".

Among the complaints: the fact that the Spanish language would become less important in classrooms than languages such as

Catalan

, Valencian or Galician, in the regions concerned;

the limit imposed on concerted establishments, ie religious but largely financed with public money;

the end of specialized establishments for people with disabilities who will henceforth have to integrate into traditional middle and high schools;

impossibility of any public funding in establishments which do not practice co-education;

or the creation of a new discipline, called “values” where we will teach in particular empathy towards animals.

The three right-wing parties - the Liberals of Ciudadanos, the Liberals of the Popular Party and the ultra-right of Vox - say they share the same anger against these measures and have promised, as soon as the law is approved, to file an appeal with the constitutional court.
