Melsungen (dpa) - Handball Bundesliga team MT Melsungen would like to postpone the home game against Bergische HC because of the corona cases in the team.

As the club announced on Monday, the players are still in quarantine until Tuesday.

The game is scheduled two days later.

"Because only a single day of training would have been available to prepare for this game, the club is in coordination with the Handball Bundesliga HBL to move it to the coming weekend," it said in a message.

It was unclear on Monday whether this would be possible.

The Bundesliga team of MT Melsungen had to go into domestic isolation on November 11th due to a positive corona test with captain Finn Lemke.

The national player was allegedly infected during his international match the week before.

The responsible authorities therefore ordered the 14-day quarantine measure for the entire team.

In the meantime, several tests on the team have given negative results, so that the quarantine can end as announced on Tuesday, it said.

The players tried to keep fit in home training with bicycle ergometers and dumbbell bars as best it was possible under the circumstances, but this was not a competition-oriented preparation.
