Langenfeld (dpa / lnw) - After the brutal attack on a black man in Langenfeld, the Düsseldorf regional court sentenced the perpetrators to up to four years and three months in juvenile detention.

A court spokeswoman announced this on Monday upon request.

A total of seven young men between the ages of 19 and 23 were charged.

The main perpetrators were convicted of dangerous bodily harm.

The German perpetrators had racially insulted the 32-year-old victim and left the victim seriously injured.

The victim from Bergisch Gladbach had an appointment with a friend at an amusement park.

But it hadn't turned up.

Instead, he had come across the group from which he was later attacked.

A witness who happened to pass by had alerted the rescue workers. Six of the seven defendants have a migration background. The main perpetrators were two 19-year-olds of Albanian origin who were sentenced to more than three and four years in prison. The investigators had initially assumed attempted manslaughter. The judgments are not yet final. The defenders have announced a revision.
