This week, politicians in the municipal council meet in the majority of the county's municipalities.

Some on site and others at a distance.

According to Sweden's municipalities and regions, SKR, the region's decision on the eight-rule does not affect the possibilities or conditions for holding municipal meetings.

On the other hand, they must comply with the Public Health Agency's regulations and general advice on everyone's responsibility to prevent covid-19 infection.

Karlshamn

The municipality of Karlshamn has a meeting today, 23 November.

The meeting will be held digitally with only the presidium in place in the City Hall.

- It will be a challenge.

This is the first time we do this, says Marie Sällström (S), chair of the municipal council.

Sölvesborg

Sölvesborg municipality also has a meeting today.

Some of the members will participate digitally but the majority will be present.

The total number of politicians present at City Council meetings has been reduced to 26.

- We try to respect the recommendations and have adapted the room with rubbing alcohol and mouth protection for those who wish.

No deputies are allowed to attend and there will be no debate to keep the meeting time down, says Arne Bogren (M), chairman of the municipal council.

He believes that there is no technology to be able to conduct the meeting completely digitally in a legally secure manner.

- The opposition wanted it completely digital but I have said that it is not feasible, says Arne Bogren (M).

Ronneby

Ronneby municipality has a meeting on Thursday 26 November and will have a physical meeting.

According to an agreement, the meeting will only have 29 participants.

The group leaders will have ten minutes each to present the budget to shorten the meeting time and the hall will be aired during the coffee break.

- We have to make decisions and this is the best we can do right now.

In December, we hope to be able to start with digital meetings, says Nils Ingmar Thorell (L), chairman of the municipal council.

Karlskrona

Karlskrona municipality, just like Ronneby, has a meeting on Thursday.

There, however, the meeting will be held digitally at the request of the group leaders.

The only ones who will be on site at Wämö center are the presidium, system administrator, secretary and the municipal director.

At the last meeting, half of the members participated on site and half digitally.

- We will try to keep it completely digital and then we can hope that it works.

We think that there is a signal value in keeping it digital, says Gunilla Ekelöf (L), chair of the municipal council.

Olofström

Olofström municipality has a meeting next Monday, November 30.

The members will be able to participate both on site or remotely.

During the week, two training sessions will be arranged in how politicians will be able to participate at a distance.

How many will attend the meeting during the meeting next week is not yet clear, but the group leaders will probably be present according to the chairman.

- It will be a combination.

Some will be on site, but we recommend that you participate at a distance, says Jan Björkman (S), chairman of the municipal council.

Blekinge Region

The Blekinge region met with criticism when 57 elected politicians gathered in early November to participate when the regional council met - despite the introduction of new, stricter corona councils in Blekinge.

- It belongs to the past and now we look forward.

Work is in progress and we expect that the next meeting on 16 December will be held digitally, says Birgitta Ståhl (M), chair of the regional council.
