Wiesbaden (dpa / lhe) - Hesse's Prime Minister Volker Bouffier (CDU) has put people in the mood for an extension of the partial lockdown in the fight against the corona pandemic.

"From my point of view, it will come down to the fact that we continue the existing measures," he said on Monday in Wiesbaden with a view to the new consultations by the federal and state governments this week.

"We broke the steep curve of infections, but we still have far too high numbers."

The Prime Minister and Chancellor Angela Merkel (CDU) want to vote on how to proceed in the corona pandemic on Wednesday.

The previous restrictions apply until the end of November.

"From my point of view it must be clear that we will take a common position on Wednesday," said Bouffier. "We would all like people to have planning security one day - I understand that very well." However, he pointed out that the law must limit all measures to a maximum of four weeks. He is assuming that the federal and state governments will agree on rules that will apply until around December 20. In good time beforehand, it must be decided again how to proceed.
