Bochum (dpa / lnw) - A few days after a mysterious explosion under a car in Bochum, there was another detonation nearby.

On Sunday night, a power distribution box was blown up in a forest, the police and public prosecutor announced on Monday.

Debris was found several meters away and the box was destroyed.

Police and prosecutors do not rule out a connection with the detonation on Thursday, as the message said.

"Due to the spatial and temporal proximity, we are checking whether the incidents are related," said a police spokesman.

It is currently not assumed that there is a technical defect.

On Thursday, an unidentified object exploded on the street when a van drove over it.

The driver was injured.

Experts from the State Criminal Police Office examined the detonation point.

Even on Monday it was still unclear what exactly had blown up.
