It was on Thursday that Region Östergötland announced that the tightened local councils will be extended until 13 December.

Britt Åkerlind, infection control doctor, says that the figure for the number of patients in inpatient care is rising gradually, but not as fast as it did last spring.

Which she thinks may be an effect of the local councils.

- We absolutely want to attribute some of this to the population, says Britt Åkerlind.

Better prepared

Britt Åkerlind says that the situation in healthcare is strained today, but that even there it is better than it was in previous years.

This may be due, according to Åkerlind, that the care is better prepared this time, as they now know how to treat patients in the best way.

At present, they have shorter care periods and patients are generally somewhat less ill, according to Åkerlind.

- We have already done it once in the spring, where the situation was totally worse, says Britt Åkerlind.
