China News Service, November 19 According to Peru’s “Communiqué”, Peru’s new President Sagasti has formed a cabinet, and the new cabinet was sworn in at the presidential palace at 6:30 pm local time on the 18th.

Previously, Sagasti had stated that he would choose a diverse, efficient and honest cabinet.

  According to reports, the post of Prime Minister of the Peruvian Cabinet is held by Violetta Valdivia.

Valdivia is a lawyer, graduated from the National University of San Marcos and obtained a master's degree in constitution from the Catholic University of Peru. He is also an expert on gender, disadvantaged people and public policy.

  Violetta Valdivia served as Deputy Minister of Women and Human Development and Cabinet Advisor.

From 2012 to 2017, she led the International Development Agency’s Pro Decentralization program, which aims to implement national decentralization and modernization, and improve public services in the Amazon region for public health, education, and environmental protection.

In the academic field, Violetta Valdivia authored articles and books such as "Gender and Power".

  According to reports, economist Waldo Mendoza served as Minister of Economy and Finance.

Mendoza has served as Chairman of the Finance Committee, Deputy Minister of Economy and Finance, and also served on the Central Reserve Bank and the Judiciary Chairman's Advisory Committee.

Waldo Mendoza graduated from the National University of San Cristobal de Huamanga and has a PhD in Economics from the Catholic University.

  In addition, Pilar Massetti, who served as Minister of Health in the Government of the former President Vizcarra, was sworn in as Minister of Health; Este Rodríguez as Minister of Foreign Affairs; Ruben Vargas as Minister of Interior; Rica Do Cuenca serves as Minister of Education.

  The report pointed out that Sagasti announced in the president’s swearing-in speech that his government’s economic priorities in the next few months will include: restoring the economy to create jobs, better allocating finances, and ensuring economic stability and finances. Balance, formulate an appropriate public budget for 2021; improve the budget execution capabilities of governments and public administration departments at all levels; provide technical support to improve the implementation of public investment by local governments; take the lead in addressing the most urgent needs of the people; formulate agricultural policies to promote zero hunger plan.

  According to previous media reports, on November 9, the Peruvian Congress voted to pass the impeachment case against then-President Vizcarra on the grounds of suspected corruption and remove him from his presidency.

Merino, then chairman of Congress, took over as president the next day.

In the clash between the demonstrators and the police, two Lima youths were killed and nearly 100 people were injured.

Under political and social pressure, Merino announced his resignation on the 15th.

  The Peruvian Constitution stipulates that when the President is unable to perform his duties, the Vice President shall take over.

Since the post of Vice President of Peru has been vacant since October 2019, the post of President will be taken over by the President of Congress.

The Peruvian Congress held a plenary session on the 16th, and Congressman Sagasti was elected as the new chairman of the Congress.

After he takes over as president, the first vice president Mirta Vázquez will become the president of Congress in accordance with constitutional procedures.
