On Thursday, the public health authority reported 19 deaths with confirmed covid-19 in the last 24 hours.

Thus, a total of 6,340 infected people have died in the country.

A total of 201,055 people have been confirmed infected with covid-19 in Sweden.

The authority also reported that 254,295 people tested themselves last week.

Of these, 12.9 percent were positive, an increase compared to previous weeks.

- We see a clear increase in recent weeks with a large number of cases that are IVA-treated, Tegmark Wisell said.

Strained testing

Testing is strained in several regions.

Against this background, the Public Health Agency's Karin Tegmark Wisell announced at today's press conference that people should only be tested if they show symptoms and if they remain.

"Those who just want to see that they are negative should not burden the test capacity," said Tegmark Wisell.

In addition, the authority wants the testing to take place no later than five days after the onset of symptoms.

The tightened general guidelines are extended

In the counties of Östergötland, Västra Götaland and Stockholm, the councils will now be extended until 13 December.

At the same time, the Swedish Public Health Agency announced that stricter general advice now also applies to Jämtland County.

As a result, all of the country's 21 regions have stricter general councils.

These recommendations apply to the regions
