"Emirates Today" recently visited the center located in Al Barsha, which opened a few days ago, to operate through advanced traffic control systems, enhanced with artificial intelligence techniques and big data analysis tools, which are transmitted to it through an interconnected, integrated and advanced network of monitoring devices and collecting field information from The sites, to appear on live screens monitored by a specialized cadre of workers, whose task is to take appropriate measures to facilitate transport operations and increase their safety in the streets of the emirate.
Al-Marzouqi said that the center will contribute to managing the traffic movement in the road network in the emirate, and will also be able to reduce the percentage of accidents, specifically secondary accidents that often result from the occurrence of accidents but are more severe than the primary accident, referring to the success of the accident management project that the authority implemented in cooperation and coordination with Dubai Police and began to implement it on Sheikh Mohammed Bin Zayed Road.
He added that real-time monitoring and control through the advanced camera system, in addition to following up the various indicators and conditions related to traffic in the streets, analyzing them continuously and making an immediate decision will work to reduce congestion, which in turn also causes accidents.
Al Marzouqi pointed out that there are a number of smart and advanced technologies that help in measuring a number of factors affecting the state of roads, including the smart sensors spread over hundreds of kilometers from the emirate's streets, pointing out that measuring flight time is one of the indicators that are monitored through technologies.
He added that the system's systems can detect a delay in the usual flight time between two points in a certain distance, and thus the presence of an obstacle or obstruction to traffic is indicated, in order to intervene by taking the appropriate decision or alerting drivers to avoid the same path.
Al-Marzouqi pointed out that stations have been established to monitor the weather, adding that they have been linked to the center's system, and that they are distributed in various parts of the emirate, in order to monitor climate changes such as fog, low visibility or the presence of water pools in an area as a result of the intensity of rain, and thus take appropriate action by notifying drivers and teams Field those sites.
Al-Marzouqi stated that the completion of the "Dubai Center for Intelligent Traffic Systems" project included the installation of 115 devices for calculating journey times and average speeds, and 17 weather-sensing stations, as well as the implementation of electrical power lines and a fiber-optic network for communications between site devices and central systems, with a length of 660 km. , As the length of the optical fiber network increased to 820 km, and the project also included the implementation of the software development work for the advanced traffic central system, which contributes to supporting decision-making and provides automatic response plans, as the central system integrates with field devices, analyzes the data received from them and activates the appropriate plans. .
