In October "there was an increase in mortality both in the North (+ 22%) and in the Center-South (+ 23%) with a significant excess in several cities".

In particular, from October 28 to November 3 "the growing trend observed from mid-October in various cities in the North (Turin, Genoa, Milan) and in the Center South (Rome, Bari, Palermo) is confirmed. also in Bologna, Florence, Perugia, Cagliari and Catania ".

It emerges from the trend of daily mortality in Italian cities in relation to Covid.

For the 32 municipalities included in the monitoring published on the website of the Ministry of Health, the daily mortality (i.e. the deceased residents) is compared with that of the same period of the year of the previous 5 years (which represents the expected value).

The goal, it says, is "to have timely data in a rapidly evolving phase of the Covid epidemic".

The data of recent months "show the sharp increase in mortality observed during the first phase of the Covid-19 epidemic, the subsequent reduction that brought mortality back in line with the reference values at the end of May, and finally the rapid increase in deaths of the last few weeks ".

Compared to the last report, also for the week 28 October-3 November the growing trend of total deaths continues, both among the cities of the north and those of the center-south.

In the North there is a greater increase in people over 75, in Rome, Genoa and Milan there is an increase in excess even in the 65-74 age group.
