Ukrainian weightlifter Alexei Novikov was named the strongest man in the world for 2020, in a competition that was held between 25 competitors in Florida, United States of America.

Novikov, 24, won the new title, becoming the youngest person to be named the world's strongest man in history.

The Ukrainian champion set a world record for deadlift, and was able to lift 537.5 kilograms.

Novikov, through his official Instagram account, submitted an official request to the Guinness Book of Records to register his new record.

The official account of the World's Strongest Man competition also congratulated the Ukrainian champion after achieving the title, beating British Tom Stultman and Canadian Jean-Francois Karona, who finished second and third respectively.
