November 18, 2020 The Commissioner for Emergency, Domenico Arcuri, sent

the anti-Covid vaccine plan to the

presidents of the regions and to the ministers of health and regional affairs

for information.

The plan speaks of

3.4 million doses of Pfizer anti-covid vaccine

that will be administered

to the first 1.7 million Italians at the end of January.

The plan envisages that the hospitals chosen for the administration of the doses "must be able to vaccinate at least

2,000 people (or more people but with multiples of 1,000) in 15 days"

.

The structures must also have freezers inside them, with specific characteristics that allow

temperatures up to -75 degrees,

and its volume of available space.

Furthermore, the

conservation characteristics of

the vaccine "provide that it can be kept for 15 days from delivery in the supplier's storage bags and for six months, if cold rooms are available at a temperature of -75 0 c ± 15 0 c".

The delivery characteristics of this first vaccine "require, to ensure its integrity, that it is exclusively delivered by the supplier directly to each point of administration (in special storage bags containing, at most, 5 boxes of 975 doses each)".

"It seems a priority to safeguard those places that during the pandemic represented the main channel of contagion and spread of the virus, such as, for example

, hospitals and residential facilities for the elderly.

To this end, it could be envisaged in this first phase to administer the vaccine directly in hospitals and, through mobile units, in residential facilities for the elderly ".

"For the other incoming vaccines, intended for all other categories of citizens, different methods of administration will be provided, in line with the ordinary vaccination management through a large-scale campaign" thanks

"to drive-throughs

, starting from people with a high level of frailty ", reads the plan for anti-covid vaccines.

In the document sent to the governors on the vaccine plan, the emergency commissioner asked the regions to send,

by November 23

, the table with the number and name of hospitals and RSA.

And for each hospital the number of health and non-health personnel.
