A lot of fish and red-listed aspen have been playing in the stream - so the season is first summed up by the fauna passage in Västerås

A big change in the cityscape, and a big change for life in Svartån.

The fauna passage in central Västerås has now been running for a whole season, and a lot of fish have passed up through it.

Helped red-listed species

Among other things, it has two red-listed species;

it is about eels and aspen, used the passage and also the previously red-listed river neon eye.

This autumn, a trout also passed up to spawn.

Otherwise, it is precisely aspen that has been a target species for the passage.

Of the ten aspens that passed, among other things, a very large female of about one meter went up in the passage to play.

Aspen played in the passage

- We had a hope that the aspens would be able to play in the passage itself, and it has, so it's extra fun.

It has been completely thick with asprom on the rocks and boulders here in the passage, so it almost seems like they used the fauna passage primarily to play, says Johan Lind.
