  On November 10, China’s 37th Antarctic Scientific Expedition Team organized by the Ministry of Natural Resources of China set off from Shanghai on the "Xuelong 2" polar scientific expedition icebreaker, and began an Antarctic scientific expedition mission.

  At 14:8 on November 17, 2020, Beijing time, "Xuelong 2", which was performing China's 37th Antarctic expedition, crossed the equator and entered the southern hemisphere from the northern hemisphere.

As soon as it passed the equator, the "Xuelong 2" sounded its whistle.

The expedition team members formed a "37" formation on the "Xuelong 2" apron for a group photo.

  According to reports, China’s 37th Antarctic Scientific Expedition will focus on addressing global climate change and other issues, carry out scientific surveys on hydrometeorology and ecological environment, and perform operational monitoring tasks for new pollutants such as microplastics and marine debris in the Southern Ocean.

At the same time, it will also carry out wintering personnel rotation and material supply at Zhongshan Station and Great Wall Station in Antarctica.

  According to the arrangement, the expedition plans to have a voyage of more than 30,000 nautical miles and is expected to return to Shanghai in early May 2021.
