The number of immigrants rescued in the Canary Islands this Tuesday stands at around 584 people, after the location in the early afternoon of six new boats, all of them in Gran Canaria, according to figures provided to Efe by Salvamento Marítimo.

At dawn, the Guardamar Polimnia helped 174 people of Maghreb origin, including a woman, who were trying to reach the island aboard six boats in the south of Gran Canaria.

And also in the early hours of the day, the Salvamar Alpheratz accompanied to the port of Los Cristianos a small cayuco with 32 sub-Saharan immigrants on board detected in the south of Tenerife, including seven minors.

In the morning, between 7.32 am and 11:03 am, the Salvamar Menkalinan assisted 152 Maghreb immigrants embarked on four boats, including four women and a minor.

Around noon, two boats with 36 Maghreb men on board (20 one and 16 the other) entered the port of Arguineguín under the surveillance of a Civil Guard inflatable boat, which had intercepted them off the coast of Gran Canaria.

And right now, Salvamar Menkalinan is back in Arguineguín with 190 people gathered from four boats: one with 72 Maghreb men, another with 32 sub-Saharan and Maghreb immigrants (among whom there are six women and a minor), a third with 60 Maghreb men and a fourth with 26 Maghrebis (including two women).
