Eight days after beating him in the final of the Masters 1000 in Paris, the Russian Daniil Medvedev, world No. 4, once again dominated the German Alexander Zverev (No. 7), whom he mastered in straight sets 6 -3, 6-4 Tuesday in London in the second single of the first day of the Masters.

In the first part of the first set, the two players, who faced each other for the eighth time - Zverev only leads against the Russian 5 wins to 3 -, delivered a daunting duel, marked by endless and spectacular trades.

But at 3-2 for Medevev, a score reached after more than half an hour of a game of great intensity, Zverev cracked by offering the break to the Russian on two double faults in a row.

The Russian jumped at the chance to confirm this break and then win this round 6-3.

In the second, Medvedev continued his dominance over Zverev, breaking 3-3 to then lead 5-3 and pocket the set on a shutout and the game in 1 h 29 min.

The first match of this group "Tokyo" had seen Novak Djokovic, N.1 world, make short work of the Argentinian Diego Schwartzman (N.9 world and last qualified for the Masters), swallowed by the Serbian 6- 3, 6-2 and 1 h 18 min.
