New aid, extended support for hiring, more accessible communication ... To show that it does not "slow down" reforms, despite the health crisis, the government must present new measures in favor of people with disabilities on Monday.

An “interministerial committee for disability” (CIH) is to be held this Monday morning in Matignon around Jean Castex and his Secretary of State for Disability Sophie Cluzel, as well as around twenty ministers, including Jean-Michel Blanquer (Education ), Elisabeth Borne (Labor) and Gérald Darmanin (Interior) and representatives of the associations of persons concerned.

Some supported equipment

“The major axis is that we do not slow down the reforms, despite this crisis” of the Covid-19, explained Sophie Cluzel, who intends to “reaffirm loud and clear the projects in progress”.

This CIH is also an opportunity for the government to announce certain new measures.

The disability compensation benefit system (PCH), which makes it possible to finance aid, human or material, will thus be extended from January 1, 2021 to cover parenting aid.

Concretely, the parents concerned will be able to pay a worker, one hour a day, to help them take care of their child.

But they will now also be entitled to the payment of certain equipment - such as a height-adjustable changing table, if they use a wheelchair.

Some 17,000 parents with disabilities are concerned, and potentially many more since one of the objectives of the reform is to prevent people from giving up becoming parents because of their disability.

Political speeches translated into sign language

On the occasion of the 24th European Week for the Employment of People with Disabilities (SEEPH), which begins on Monday, the government must also announce the extension of the hiring aid implemented as part of the recovery plan.

The end of this system, initially set for February 28, is postponed to June 30.

The aid is 4,000 euros for each disabled person recruited - on a permanent or fixed-term contract of more than three months.

Another announcement: the “sanctuary” of 10 million euros to allow all the speeches of the ministers to be subtitled and translated into sign language, in order to be accessible to deaf and hard of hearing people.
