In February of this year, the Central Bank of Greece discussed the plan to issue commemorative coins.

Recently, the program has received support from the Mariana V. Valdinoani Foundation and is about to enter the implementation phase.

  The Battle of Wenquan Pass and the Battle of Salamis that took place in 480 BC were important battles in the Hippo War and a classic battle that cannot be ignored in the history of Western wars.

  In these two wars, the Greek Allied Forces showed courage and finally won the victory of the Hippocratic War.

Later generations also created a large number of literary and film and television works based on this history, including the popular Hollywood blockbuster "The Three Hundred Warriors of Spartan" and so on.

To commemorate the victory of the Salamis, the modern Greek navy holds a memorial celebration on September 12 every year.

  In February 2020, Giannis Stunalas, Governor of the Central Bank of Greece, Christos Starkuras, Minister of Finance, and Ms. Mariana of the Mariana V. Valdinoani Foundation, jointly Attended the 2500 Anniversary of Wenquanguan-Salami, and initially planned the issuance of commemorative coins.

  According to the plan, the Central Bank of Greece will send commemorative coins to international organizations, embassies and consulates in Greece, schools of all levels in Greece, schools of Greek diasporas, international friends, scholars, and representatives of the church, art, sports and media.

The Mariana V. Valdinojani Foundation will bear the full cost of this project.
