“As of 19:00 on November 14, 2020, the Central Election Commission received 59 applications (1 application withdrawn - B. Baketaev) from citizens of the Kyrgyz Republic on the nomination of candidates for the office of President of the Kyrgyz Republic,” the statement says.

Among the contenders for the post of head of state are ex-speaker of the Kyrgyz parliament Kanat Isaev, leader of the Butun Kyrgyzstan party Adakhan Madumarov, former deputy head of the country's Interior Ministry Kursan Asanov, and ex-judge of the Constitutional Chamber of the republic and leader of the opposition Reform party Klara Sooronkulova.

Acting President of Kyrgyzstan Sadyr Japarov also submitted documents to participate in the presidential elections, which are scheduled for January 10, 2021.
