The regional corona restrictions apply until Tuesday next week.

Then the Public Health Agency makes a new decision.

But according to Region Skåne's highest politician, it is likely that the restrictions will be maintained.

Although a record number of covid cases have been found in Skåne this week, Carl Johan Sonesson sees a certain brightening.

- The rate of infection has decreased but the number of people with infection has increased, he says.

He believes that the regional restrictions have so far been good, and sees no need to tighten them further.

Influenza season threatens

Something that makes the situation more difficult than the large spread of spring is that the autumn coronal wave risks coinciding in time with the seasonal flu.

- It is a much bigger challenge now, says Carl Johan Sonesson (M).

Redirect staff

80 percent of the intensive care units in Skåne are occupied, but according to the regional council, it is possible to double the number of places both three and four times by redirecting medical staff from clinics and planned, non-emergency operations.

- If it were to be such a horrible situation, we have a capacity to increase, says Carl Johan Sonesson (M).
