An Emirati citizen, through his company specialized in the trade of vegetables and fruits, provided meals to more than 400,000 people during 100 days of the Corona pandemic for free.

The initiative included patients in hospitals and isolation centers nationwide, doctors, and labor accommodations.

It also provided logistical services in the form of transportation services and refrigerators, which were placed at the disposal of health authorities.

Citizen Khaled Al-Khwaiter said that his company specialized in the trade of vegetables and fruits, in cooperation with his partner Muhammad Al-Rifai, provided direct support to health authorities in hospitals and areas that were subjected to quarantine, indicating that it is currently working on providing meals for facilities run by the Dubai Health Authority, and other facilities under The umbrella of the official authorities.

He added that the pandemic gave him the opportunity to return the favor to the state, which has provided him with all forms of support and facilities since the establishment of his company, stressing his readiness to stand side by side with the official authorities that manage the Corona crisis until it exceeds the current health conditions.

Al-Khwaiter pointed out that the company worked during the national sterilization period to deliver baskets of vegetables and fruits to homes, as it did order service through smart “online” applications, and its services included humanitarian cases, the incapable, and people with limited income.

He said that the pandemic posed great challenges since its inception, most notably the provision of adequate stocks of vegetables and fruits, to support the strategic stock of the state, which prompted the opening of new markets.

Other challenges include the high prices of vegetables and fruits in the exporting countries, the high shipping prices, and the need for periodic and continuous examination of workers, which necessitated the development of a plan to ensure the provision of products while maintaining prices, especially as concern prompted many members of society to store large quantities of goods in their homes. .

He stated that the company was keen to develop a plan to protect workers by distributing them to several regions, to ensure that the epidemic did not spread among them, and to ensure the continuation of the service.

He confirmed the company's readiness, in cooperation with his partner, Muhammad Al-Rifai, to provide its community services continuously, as long as the need arises.

He added, "The company has invested the efforts of about 4000 workers for its community initiative, who have provided their services to about 70 sites distributed at the state level."

He added that the imported quantities of vegetables and fruits during the pandemic increased by 40%, compared to before, indicating support for food outlets, and working to provide a stock of long-term goods for a period of three months, such as citrus fruits, onions, potatoes, and other commodities that can be stored for long periods. .
