From 20 November until February next year, the Government wants to ban the sale of alcohol in pubs, bars and restaurants after 10 pm. In addition, the pub operations will be forced to close no later than 10.30 pm.

- We are in a state of shock if I am to be completely honest.

These are extremely tough times.

What can give more hope and faith in the future is that there will be more support for the industry, because it is our industry that is among the most vulnerable, says Martin Bergwall Nilsson.

Manages locally

When it comes to the industry at a local level, Martin Bergwall Nilsson is optimistic.

He believes that they will be able to handle the new rule because they have previously been able to reorganize the business and keep it open.

- We have a good dialogue with the municipality.

It has worked very well so far, we have had a good teamwork between guests, employees and the authorities.

How the new rule will affect the economy is currently unclear as the new decision entails new changes for the business.

- The race is definitely not run for our industry, it's just a matter of changing.

There will be much more takeaway food like Christmas food and New Year's menus.

People will still want to treat themselves to something good, he says.

Concern for staff

What Martin Bergwall Nilsson is mainly worried about with the new rule is how it will affect the employees in the restaurant and restaurant industry.

- There are tens of thousands of jobs that are threatened by this new rule, you should be clear about that.

It will surely lead to notice for us too, unfortunately, but we do everything in our power to save as much work as possible.

But there we need the government's support, he says.
