  • The world of culture, confined with fewer restrictions than during the first confinement, is taking initiatives to remain present in the eyes of the public.

  • The Bordeaux opera house, the Rocher de Palmer and the Aquitaine museum offer online appointments, pending a reopening to the public.

  • The theaters rely on the workshops they offer to schools, in parallel with their continuing rehearsals.

For this second confinement, the artists have the right to rehearse and that changes everything.

In addition to the benefits on the morale of the troops, this allows cultural players in Bordeaux to work peacefully on deconfinement but also to submit proposals online.

"Even if it means not having an audience in theaters, you might as well look for another audience," comments with philosophy Olivier Lombardie, general administrator of the National Opera of Bordeaux.

With the Facebook live, we reach our usual audience more, but with the recording of the album (the opera Pelléas et Mélisande) and the broadcast of the ballet (Célestial) by France 3, we are opening up to people who know us. less ”.

Shows and concerts broadcast online

The opera was recorded in studio quality by the Alpha Classics label and will be available for sale in the fall of 2021. It is an event since this type of recording, quite expensive, had not taken place at the Bordeaux opera since 1997. The Celestial ballet was captured last week by the teams of France 3 Nouvelle-Aquitaine under live conditions, and it will be broadcast on a date still unknown on the channel and NoA.

From this Thursday, a live broadcast of a symphonic concert will be organized on the Facebook page of the Opéra de Bordeaux and a choir concert will be broadcast there on November 25.

While during the first confinement the opera had offered a lot of streamings, it made the choice, this time, of more structured proposals.

The dancers and musicians of the opera continue to rehearse tirelessly to maintain their level, like top athletes who cannot afford to miss training.

"We are optimistic and we are ready to find our audience at any time," assures Olivier Lombardie.

Without permanent artists, the Rocher de Palmer de Cenon is in a more delicate situation.

However, he too will soon be broadcasting two concerts of his initial programming on his site, his Facebook page and on the Noa channel.

The soul group J-Silk is scheduled on November 27 at 7 p.m. at the Rocher site and at 9:10 p.m. on Noa.

And at the same times on November 28, the world music concert of the Mara Szachniuk trio will be broadcast.

“We saw it during the deconfinement, as soon as we can welcome the public, they will come back to listen to live music,” assures Anne Chaput, in charge of communication at Le Rocher.

On the side of the Aquitaine museum, the teams are busy installing the Hugo Pratt exhibition, already postponed and which was to be relaunched on November 21.

To keep its audience patient, the establishment invites them to take a look behind the scenes at the exhibition.

The more curious will find videos of works, games and live lectures to eat while waiting for the museum to reopen its doors.

Theaters rely on their work with schoolchildren

“Live performance must be experienced indoors,” says Florence Tournier-Lavaux, secretary general of the Bordeaux Aquitaine National Theater (TnBA).

There is a meeting that must take place between a set of actors and a room ”.

Also starting from the observation that the encounter with the theater often takes place at school, the TnBA has strengthened its initiatives towards schoolchildren, in connection with the Glob Theater.

“There is a desire for establishments to be in contact with the performing arts,” underlines Monique Garcia, co-director of Glob, whose premises are also the subject of major rehabilitation work.

The artists come to the establishments of Gironde, in conjunction with relay teachers to offer readings, voices or writing workshops.

“We have to adapt to wearing a mask for these workshops,” points out Monique Garcia.

For example, we are turning more to puppets ”.

Students who have booked shows will be entitled to critical analyzes of works, by Shakespeare for example, by videoconference.

So many interventions that cannot ultimately replace the encounter with the work, expected as soon as the health context allows.
