A woman died Wednesday evening in a road accident on the RN157 between Paris and Rennes (Ille-et-Vilaine).
According to the firefighters, the victim was struck by a vehicle traveling towards the Breton capital around 7 p.m.
The pedestrian was on the tracks near Noyal-sur-Vilaine when she was hit.
We do not yet know the reasons for its presence on the dual carriageway.
Alerted, the firefighters discovered the woman in cardio-respiratory arrest on the emergency lane.
They could not resuscitate her and the death was pronounced on the spot by a doctor.
Traffic was cut off in the Paris-Rennes direction for about three hours.
A diversion had been put in place.
An investigation was opened and entrusted to the gendarmerie.
