Eksjö District Court decided in connection with the final plea during the trial that the suspected perpetrator would undergo a forensic psychiatric examination.

It shows that the man suffered from a serious mental disorder in connection with him stabbing his father to death.

The National Board of Forensic Medicine believes that as a result of the mental disorder there is a risk that the man may relapse into crime and considers that in the event of a conviction he should be sentenced to forensic psychiatric care with a special discharge examination.

Prison not current

Prosecutor Jessica Andersson is now relying on the National Board of Forensic Medicine's statement and has proposed to the court that the man be convicted of murder to forensic psychiatric care with special discharge review.

The defense, which considered that the man acted in self-defense, has not yet submitted its opinion to Eksjö District Court.

The defense has one week on it, after which the district court will decide whether the man should be acquitted or sentenced.

As he is considered to be suffering from a mental disorder, he cannot be sentenced to prison.
