A British nurse at the Chester hospital in the west of England was arrested after being charged with the
murder of eight babies and the attempted murder of 10 others,
local police said in a statement on Wednesday.
"The prosecutor's services authorized the police of Cheshire (the county whose capital is Chester) to indict a health professional for murder in the framework of an investigation into the death of a certain number of babies" in the neonatal unit
of Chester hospital ,
the statement said.
Lucie Letby, 30,
was arrested Tuesday and charged with eight murders and 10 attempted murders "in the period
from June 2015 to June 2016,"
police said.
The nurse had already been
arrested on two other occasions
before being released for lack of evidence
The security forces said that she will appear in court on Thursday in Warrington, about 30 kilometers from Chester.
