11 November 2020 The Carabinieri has put the entire Chiari barracks in Bresciano under internal investigation. According to what was written by the Giornale di Brescia, this is an activity resulting from the Scarface investigation which a week ago led to the arrest of 14 people, some accused of mafia association, for allegedly laundering money through the game of Lotto. Among the arrests also the former commander of the traffic police of Chieri and a carabiniere of the same country, both accused of corruption for having pocketed money and gifts from the entrepreneur Francesco Mura, believed to be close to the clan of the 'Ndrangheta Barbaro-Papalia. He would offer tickets to public officials and a magistrate from the Brescia prosecutor's office to attend Juventus matches and the Milanese Byonce concert. "The barracks were frequented by Mura with unusual and anomalous frequency that certainly contrasts with his previous criminal situation for a definitive sentence for drug trafficking" reads the 2082 pages of information filed with the Prosecutor's Office. The entrepreneur would have bought the air conditioners of the same barracks, would have given an officer as a gift plane tickets and holiday travel, to a non-commissioned officer paid 1200 euros through 16 transfers. For those who investigated, even on the same military colleagues, Mura "has cultivated contacts with unfaithful servants of the state in order to obtain protection and useful information for his cause". Now the weapon is evaluating the positions of the military not involved criminally, but punishable by discipline.
