Ministry of Foreign Affairs: China urges the US to immediately stop interfering in Hong Kong affairs and immediately lift the so-called sanctions

On November 10, Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Wang Wenbin hosted a regular press conference.

A reporter asked about the actions of the four mainland and Hong Kong officials announced by the United States to sanction them.

Wang Wenbin said that the relevant actions of the United States blatantly intervened in Hong Kong affairs, grossly interfered in China's internal affairs, and seriously violated international law and the basic norms of international relations.

China firmly opposes and strongly condemns this.

Wang Wenbin emphasized that China is a country under the rule of law, and the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region is a society under the rule of law, where laws must be followed and violations must be investigated.

When the national security of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region has been threatened and seriously damaged, and the Special Administrative Region Government is unable to complete and maintain national security legislation on its own, the Chinese Central Government has established and improved the legal system and enforcement mechanism of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region to maintain national security at the national level. Reduce criminals who seriously endanger national security and protect the vast majority of law-abiding Hong Kong residents.

The Chinese central government firmly supports relevant departments and personnel of governments at all levels in performing their duties and responsibilities in accordance with the law.

Hong Kong is China's Hong Kong. Hong Kong affairs are purely China's internal affairs, and no external forces have the right to interfere.

China urges the US to immediately stop interfering in Hong Kong affairs, immediately lift the so-called sanctions, and not go further and further down the wrong path.
