49% decrease in traffic accidents in Sharjah

The Traffic Statistics Branch of the Sharjah Police General Command revealed that the rate of traffic accidents during the past 10 months decreased by 49%, compared to the same period last year.

The Director of the Traffic and Patrols Department at Sharjah Police, Lieutenant Colonel Muhammad Alai Al Naqbi, said that according to statistical figures, the number of accidents from the beginning of the year until the end of October reached 271 accidents with injuries, compared to 532 accidents with injuries during the same period last year, stressing that this decrease is due to The results of the Ministry of Interior's strategy to make roads safer, and the various initiatives, campaigns and awareness programs it contained, contributed positively to raising awareness among the public, adherence to traffic and traffic laws and respecting the road, which contributed to reducing the traffic accidents index.

He added that the decrease in accidents is also due to the efforts made by the Sharjah Police General Command in improving traffic safety levels, by intensifying the number of traffic patrols to tighten control over roads, and to ensure the smooth flow of traffic, with the increase in population density in the emirate, in addition to implementing a traffic safety plan for all users. The road by analyzing traffic statistics and accidents that threaten the security and safety of road users, to reach the Ministry of Interior's vision that aims to make the UAE one of the best countries in the world in achieving safety and security.

The Director of the Traffic and Patrols Department called on community members to cooperate more with the police, by adhering to all controls, procedures and measures, especially those visiting land areas.
