During week 44, 1195 individuals were tested in Östergötland, per 100,000 inhabitants.

Only Västernorrland, Kalmar and Blekinge regions tested fewer.

But infection control doctor Britt Åkerlind thinks that the region is testing at a good level.

- We are one of maybe five counties located there.

But we have a fairly high percentage of positivity.

I think we are to a greater extent testing more the right people, says Britt Åkerlind to SVT Nyheter Öst.

More to be tested

In total in Sweden, the number of tests is now approaching 200,000 per week.

But the Swedish Public Health Agency wants to test even more.

TT is told that there is no "roof".

- Testing is an important part of the current strategy, unlike last spring when that opportunity did not exist in the same way.

The number of tests can increase further, although I have a great understanding that the situation in the regions is very strained in some places, says Karin Tegmark Wisell.

At the end of last week, the Östergötland Region flagged a sharp reduction in sampling capacity.

Reason is technical problems and an incipient national material shortage.
