Taiwan's new confirmed cases of new coronary pneumonia in the past week hit a new high in six months

Xinhua News Agency, Taipei, November 8 (Reporters Fu Shuangqi and Wu Jihai) As the new crown pneumonia epidemic has intensified globally, Taiwan is also facing a more severe epidemic prevention situation.

The Taiwan Epidemic Command Center held a press conference on the 8th and stated that Taiwan had 19 new confirmed cases of new coronary pneumonia in the past week, the most new cases since April this year.

The command center stated that Taiwan had 22 new confirmed cases of new coronary pneumonia within a week in April. The current situation is similar to that in April, because of the increase in cases in Europe, America and other parts of Asia, Taiwan is also facing more imported cases from abroad.

In addition, the number of overseas students and migrant workers expiring the quarantine period was also higher this week.

The command center said that the current new cases were mainly discovered during the isolation period and did not pose a threat to the local community in Taiwan. The relevant departments will strengthen immigration supervision and hope that the second wave of epidemics will not break out in Taiwan.

According to reports, Taiwan added 4 new confirmed cases of new coronary pneumonia on the 8th, entering the country from Indonesia and the Philippines respectively.

Up to now, Taiwan has a total of 103,897 new coronary pneumonia-related notifications (including 102,269 cases excluded), of which 577 cases have been confirmed, and 7 of the confirmed cases have died.
