According to the

Wall Street Journal

, donations collected for several days by Donald Trump would not only be used to finance an "Electoral Defense Fund" aimed at deploying a judicial offensive against the so-called "fraud" of the American presidential election.

The daily notes that the fine print on the solicitations explains that "half - or more - of any contribution will be used to repay the debt of his re-election campaign".

The Trump campaign is suing in at least four states, including Michigan and Pennsylvania.

Since Wednesday morning, the campaign and the Republican National Committee have sent dozens of daily texts and emails saying they need financial support to challenge voting procedures, the newspaper reports.

But when you go to the donation page and click on a disclaimer, it is specified that 50% of any contribution will be used for the repayment of the debt of the general election campaign and 50 % for the campaign recount account.

Same strategy for Biden

In addition, other appeals for donations launched in recent days to “protect the integrity of this election” lead to a donation page for Donald Trump's “Make America Great Again” committee.

This time around, the fine print on those solicitations indicates that 60% of each contribution will go towards paying off campaign debt, and 40% will go to the Republican National Committee.

Joe Biden also launched a call for contributions to fund future legal battles.

Again the fine print says that "the first $ 142,000 of any contribution goes to the Democratic National Committee, and the next $ 2,800 goes to Mr. Biden's recount account."

Neither Biden nor Trump's campaign committees responded to the newspaper's request for comment.
