“I am very glad that today an end is being put in the settlement of the long-term conflict between Armenia and Azerbaijan, and the occupation of Azerbaijani lands is ending,” Aliyev said to Russian President Vladimir Putin during the ceremony of signing an agreement on an armistice in the region.

In his words, the matter concerns a settlement, which "meets the interests of the peoples of Azerbaijan, Armenia and the countries of the region."

The Azerbaijani leader stressed that the agreement on Nagorno-Karabakh will lead to long-term peace.

Earlier, the press secretary of the Russian president Dmitry Peskov said that the leaders of Russia, Armenia and Azerbaijan, Vladimir Putin, Nikol Pashinyan and Ilham Aliyev, signed a joint statement on a ceasefire in Nagorno-Karabakh.
