His Highness Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation and Chairman of the Education and Human Resources Council, affirmed that the safety of citizens and residents on the land of the country is a top priority for our leadership.

This came during a meeting of the Education and Human Resources Council, chaired by His Highness, through remote visual communication technology.

His Highness Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan praised the efforts made by the educational authorities, parents and students, to ensure the continuity of the educational process and its advancement despite the current circumstances and challenges.

He pointed out that the educational authorities are doing everything they can to provide a healthy and safe educational environment that enables students to achieve academic achievement with high levels of competence, whether in the classroom or through digital education technologies.

The Minister of Education, Hussein bin Ibrahim Al Hammadi, reviewed the latest developments in the implementation of the general framework for operating educational facilities in the country and the set of protocols, requirements and precautionary measures followed by public and higher education facilities, with the aim of achieving a safe and healthy educational environment for its students and workers.

Al-Hammadi said, "Learning in universities is continuous and takes place remotely, with the exception of specializations that require the use of laboratories. The health status is evaluated in each university and accordingly the university decides the educational model that is appropriate with it."

He talked about the latest developments related to the working hours of nurseries, early childhood centers and private schools, in addition to procedures, protocols, potential risks in this regard and how to remedy them, as well as proposals and recommendations related to them.

He explained that determining the mechanism of the educational process in the second semester, whether in public or private schools, universities or nurseries, depends on several considerations, and said that there is coordination with the concerned authorities to track the health status and choose the best for our students, according to the current developments.

He added that there is more than one option and scenario at issue, and the best options will be taken according to developments and based on what the competent authorities recommend, in the interest of our students, our teaching and administrative staff, and their families.

Al-Hammadi reviewed the developments in the developmental framework for the scholarship program at the ministry, which consists of three main axes, namely raising the criteria for student nomination, developing a mechanism for selecting majors, as well as scholarships to higher-level universities.

He emphasized that the framework aims to ensure the students' optimal use of the scholarship opportunity, to create fair differential conditions for selecting candidates, and to increase the graduation rates of students from the programs they are dispatched to on time.

He reviewed the statistics of the distribution of scholarship students according to internationally ranked universities and majors, as well as the efforts and procedures followed to support them, in order to ensure their safety and continuity of their academic achievement under the current circumstances.
