The Dubai Council for the Future of Humanitarian Action confirmed the leadership of the UAE in the humanitarian field, declaring that 75% of the international stockpile and the organized response originates from the UAE.

The Council continues to expand the horizons of the successive humanitarian initiatives, to contribute to containing the repercussions of the emerging corona virus (Covid-19) on individuals, families and societies around the world.

Finally, in its extraordinary meeting, the Council reviewed the various initiatives carried out by the institutions whose representatives participate in the membership of the Council so far, and future plans to strengthen humanitarian work in addressing the consequences of the emerging global Coronavirus epidemic, and the Council’s meeting also focused on the importance of drawing lessons learned from the national response. It occurred during the pandemic, and its effects on the future of humanitarian work locally, regionally and globally.

Since the beginning of the "Covid-19" crisis, the Dubai Council for the Future of Humanitarian Action has continued to support the national response and international cooperation initiatives to the consequences of "Covid-19" in various sectors, such as health, food, education, awareness, and support unifying and coordinating local and international efforts in the field of work. This reinforces the leadership role of Dubai and the UAE in the local and international response.

Assistant Secretary-General of the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Global Initiatives Foundation, Chairman of the Dubai Council for the Future of Humanitarian Work, Saeed Al-Eter, affirmed that the speedy response of charitable and humanitarian work institutions in Dubai and the UAE locally and globally during the time of the "Covid-19" pandemic under the directives of His Highness Sheikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the State, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, and His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces, has established the global leadership of the UAE in The field of international humanitarian and relief work in times of crisis.

Al-Eter praised the efforts of the institutions whose representatives from the members of the Dubai Council for the Future of Humanitarian Action reviewed, and their humanitarian initiatives reaching the widest scope in the four regions of the world, noting that these efforts resulted in the transfer of about 75% of the food aid from the World Food Program to the communities most in need via Dubai. It contributed to launching the largest national community food support network to confront the consequences of "Covid-19" on individuals and needy families, represented by the "10 million meals" campaign, and provided medical and preventive supplies and specialized training for the first lines of defense against the global epidemic in many countries of the world.

Ambassador Gerhard Putman praised the pivotal role that the UAE played in the rapid response at the global relief level in response to the challenge of the emerging corona virus (Covid-19), and in support of international humanitarian efforts aimed at mitigating the repercussions of the global epidemic on vulnerable groups in the less fortunate and most affected societies.

He praised the coordination at the international level to ensure an optimal response to the challenge imposed by the "Covid-19" epidemic on various sectors, especially health and relief, pointing out that the Dubai International Conference and Exhibition for Humanitarian Aid and Development aims to strengthen this international coordination and to continue developing global response efforts.

The CEO of Dubai Cares, a member of its Board of Directors, Dr. Tariq Mohammed Al Gurg, said that “the (Covid-19) pandemic has cast a shadow over the entire education sector around the world, causing the interruption of more than 1.6 billion students from education in more than 190 countries. And (Dubai Cares) has intensified its efforts to support the education sector locally and internationally.

At the level of the UAE, the Foundation launched a campaign (Education Without Interruption), in partnership with the Ministry of Education, to collect donations in order to address the effects of the pandemic on the education of children and youth, and an (inspiring humanitarian initiative) was launched.

The head of Index Holding Company, Dr. Abdul Salam Al-Madani, confirmed that Index launched a number of initiatives, the most important of which is Waterfalls, to provide specialized training remotely to about one million medical cadres, from around the world, to include doctors, nurses, paramedics, technicians and experts. Health professionals and administrators in the hospital and medical services sector. More than 140 doctors, experts and specialists participate in the development and provision of educational content for the initiative, and 67 international scientific, medical and academic institutions.

For his part, the Executive Vice President of the International City for Humanitarian Services, Khaled Al-Awadi, confirmed that the city was "the fastest international response to the pandemic, thanks to its readiness and speed of response."

He pointed out that the World Health Organization has sent nearly 80% of personal protective equipment to all parts of the world, through the organization's warehouses located in the International Humanitarian City in Dubai.

He said that the support of leadership, coordination and readiness from various bodies in the country, such as the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Customs, Ports, Shipping Companies, and others, contributed to achieving this rapid response at various levels, noting that the World Food Organization won the Nobel Peace Prize 2020, as 75% of the international stockpile and the organized response It is launched from the UAE, specifically from the International Humanitarian City in Dubai.

For his part, the Executive Director of the charitable work sector in the Department of Islamic Affairs and Charitable Activities in Dubai, Ahmed Darwish Al Muhairi, said, “The Community Solidarity Fund against (Covid-19) has succeeded in unifying and coordinating efforts to respond to the pandemic from various government and private agencies.”

In turn, the Executive Director of the "Noor Dubai" Foundation, the Executive Director of the Primary Health Care Sector at the Dubai Health Authority, Dr. Manal Tarim, said, "The efforts of the (Noor Dubai) Foundation continued efficiently during the pandemic, specifically testing and diagnostic services in Nigeria and Senegal."

The advisor at the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Global Initiatives Foundation, Dr. Walid Al Ali, said during the council that “the first phase of the initiative to prepare leaders of humanitarian work has succeeded, and the second phase in which it was planned to conduct a visit and field training in remote villages in India” .

He pointed out that the updated plan consists of an integrated program, where the trainees will work on five field projects related to humanitarian work within the UAE, and technical support and a number of training workshops will be provided remotely, and the duration of the projects is six weeks, after which the teams will present their projects to the Council. By the end of November 2020, the first batch of the humanitarian action leadership preparation program can be graduated, and the implementation plan of the hypothetical International Humanitarian Hackathon, in which more than 200 people will gather around the world, has been approved to discuss ideas that will be developed as solutions to the current humanitarian conditions, especially those that resulted from ( Covid-19) ».
