THE ESSENTIAL

  • The counting of votes continues in the United States, the victory will be played on the tens of thousands of ballots which remain to be counted.

  • Americans, who are waiting to know the name of the president who will be sworn in on Jan. 20, have their eyes on Pennsylvania, which could end the suspense.

  • Faced with these figures, Donald Trump reared up and denounced once again a “theft” of the ballot of which he would be the winner.

7:30 am: Update on the scores in two key states that could give victory to Biden

The United States, which was waiting to know the name of the president who will be sworn in on January 20, had its eyes on Pennsylvania, which could end the suspense.

If the former vice-president of Barack Obama wins this industrial state, he will become the 46th American president.

The 20 major voters of this state would indeed allow him to cross the "magic" threshold of 270 - the majority of the electoral college - which would propel him to the White House and would make Donald Trump the president of a single term.

Donald Trump's initial election night lead in that state melted as ballots mailed out - 80% in favor of Joe Biden - were counted.

Throughout the day, local officials in Georgia, Pennsylvania, Arizona and Nevada have been reporting ballot statistics remaining to be counted, fluctuating the time or day they complete the mailed ballots.

In Georgia, the gap has narrowed and the two candidates are now in a pocket square.

Hello everyone and welcome to this live.
