It was on 15 October 2018 that a 24-year-old man was found stabbed to death with about 40 stab wounds in his home in Oslo and Norwegian police called for a 20-year-old Uppsala resident who was suspected of the murder.

The murder is linked to a knife robbery that took place in a garage not far from the scene.

The man fled the country and the police believe that he fled to his hometown Uppsala and then fled south.

He was arrested on October 24 in France.

Convicted of murder

Now on Thursday, the Oslo District Court came with its verdict against the man.

He is sentenced to compulsory psychiatric care for murder and robbery.

The man has previously admitted that he killed the 24-year-old, according to information from his lawyer.

The Uppsala resident has previously been diagnosed with schizophrenia and according to the indictment, he must have committed the acts in a psychotic state.

The court considers that the man needs long-term treatment.

Suspected of further murder

He is also suspected of having murdered a woman in her 60s in Belgium while he was on the run from the Norwegian police.

But that case is being handled by the Belgian judiciary.

The man has previously been sentenced to 1.5 years in prison for, among other things, theft and robbery in Sweden.
