06 November 2020A newborn with a smashed skull and the umbilical cord still attached was found in Trapani, inside a plastic bag in the atrium of a condominium courtyard in via Francesco De Stefano.

Police have identified the mother of the newborn.

This is an underage girl.

The investigators, coordinated by the deputy prosecutor Maurizio Agnello, do not rule out that the little one may have been thrown from a window.

The girl, who is 17 years old and lives with her parents, was taken to the obstetrics and gynecology department of the Sant'Antonio Abate hospital in Trapani for checks.

The minor, who is of robust build, would have managed to hide the pregnancy from her parents, who reported that they had not noticed anything.

The young woman, immediately after giving birth, would wrap the baby in a plastic bag and then throw it out the window.

The investigation will now be forwarded to the Prosecutor's Office of the Palermo Juvenile Court.
