Fredrik Sund believes that the autumn will be worse for Swedish healthcare than it was in the spring.

A second wave of coronavirus in combination with the accumulated healthcare debt from this spring is putting a lot of pressure on healthcare staff.

- They worked very hard and did not really get the holiday weeks they needed.

Then when the autumn started, we took on this care debt, so the care staff is much more tired now than they were last spring, says Fredrik Sund.

Stricter advice is not followed

Uppsala was one of the first regions in Sweden to introduce stricter recommendations due to the pandemic.

If they have had an effect, it is too early to say, Fredrik Sund thinks - he is doubtful whether people will follow them.

- We have seen these weeks that the restrictions are not complied with.

With such a spread of infection that is now happening, it is as if we in Sweden are in free fall.

May be curfew

He wants to see more powerful restrictions.

- What is now is too toothless.

Do you mean curfew as in Spain or Italy?

- So serious measures may be needed.

We talk a lot about timing and I think we have the chance now.

In a few weeks, I think it will be ineffective.

Fredrik Sund points out that it is his personal opinions and nothing that the Public Health Agency or his region thinks right now.
