The Egyptian authorities released the prominent Salafi preacher, Mustafa Al-Adawi, hours after his arrest yesterday, following his call for a boycott of France in response to her insulting Islam and his Prophet Muhammad, peace be upon him.

This came according to a post by his son Hassan - via his Facebook account on Wednesday evening - after hours of reports of his arrest by the Egyptian police.

Hassan Al-Adawy said, "Praise be to God, the father Ali Khair was released while on his way to us," without giving further details, while the Egyptian authorities did not issue any official statements regarding the sheikh’s arrest or release.

Yesterday, Wednesday, social networking sites were filled with publications and tweets that spoke about the arrest of Al-Adawi due to a video recording in which he called for a boycott of French goods, describing President Emmanuel Macron as a "criminal" against the background of insulting Islam.

Al-Adawi called on the rulers of Muslim affairs to replace the purchase of weapons from "belligerent countries to non-belligerent countries," stressing that the call for a boycott includes rulers and politicians and not only individual Muslims.

And in most Arab and Islamic countries there were calls to boycott French goods following the insulting cartoons of the Holy Prophet Muhammad, may God bless him and grant him peace, as well as speeches and statements by French President Emmanuel Macron that provoked the feelings of Muslims.

A few months ago, the Egyptian Ministry of Endowments revoked the license to publicize Mustafa Al-Adawi, and banned his ascending the pulpit or giving religious lessons on the grounds that he carried out "behaviors inconsistent with the call."

Al-Adawi is one of the most prominent advocates of the independent Salafist movement in Egypt, which includes a number of famous names such as Muhammad Hassan, Muhammad Hussein Yaqoub and Abu Ishaq al-Hawaini, and this movement supported the late President Mohamed Morsi, but withdrew from the political engagement after the military coup led by the current President Abdel Fattah Sisi in the summer of 2013 when he was Minister of Defense.

There are several Salafi currents in Egypt, some of which are independent and some of them are organized in associations and institutions such as the Ansar al-Sunna Association, the most famous of which is the Salafi Da`wa Organization in Alexandria, which established the Nour Party as a "political arm", the party that came second in the elections that took place after the January revolution. His subsequent support for Sisi's coup is being subjected to narrowing shares, along with other factors, in his failure to win any seat in the recent Shura Council elections.

Al-Adawi's arrest sparked angry reactions on social media, and activists demanded the Egyptian authorities to quickly release him due to his health condition.

Others spoke of the security services' expansion in pursuing and arresting Egyptians, the continuation of the policy of silencing and violations of human rights.

Some pointed out that the regime of President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi turned to suppress even the silent people after it arrested activists and politicians.

Tweeters expressed their dissatisfaction with the suppression of even those speaking about Muslim feelings, away from the political employment of the event.

The Egyptian media had fallen into the paradox of the swift and explicit support for the call to boycott Turkish goods launched by those affiliated with the Saudi and UAE regimes, but it was confused and hesitant when talking about boycotting French goods.

The tax and zakat on knowledge..with God it is the greatest jihad..Even if they release it..It is a message to those who call for a boycott of France! .. Remember my previous tweets..the duty of scholars here is a double: to support the Prophet, may God’s prayers and peace be upon him, and to support the supportive scholars..May God decipher. The updated Sheikh Mustafa Al-Adawi issued a fatwa stating the prohibition of normalization and the necessity to boycott France in support of the Messenger of God, so he was arrested immediately !!

Scientists want them on the remote control, they do not speak except with an order and do not remain silent except with an order, otherwise imprisonment is their fate, and they do not see light after it !!
