The first Korean female congressman has emerged in the United States.



Marylin Strickland, a Korean woman who ran for Democratic Party in Washington State District 10, won a median count of 58.3 percent, defeating Washington State Congressman Beth Doglio.



Elect Strickland, whose mother is Korean, became the first Korean female congressman in the US House of Representatives and the first African American congressman in Washington State.



Democratic Congressman Andy Kim, who ran for the 3rd constituency in New Jersey, also succeeded in reelection with a 55% vote.
