Since last Friday, the Östergötland Region has gone into a so-called staff situation and this week, operations have had to be canceled at, for example, Vrinnevis Hospital when it is now necessary to change focus.
- This week we have seen that the patient influx due to covid-19 has increased very much.
Then we need to retrain our staff in how to handle protective equipment and how to work in the intensive care unit, says Jessica Frisk, care director at Region Östergötland.
The region's statistics on the infection situation in the county today showed 173 new reported cases and two deaths.
43 people are cared for at the county's hospital, of which six are in the intensive care unit.
